I have always had an affinity with the outdoors even though I was brought up in the city until about 1999. This is when I decided to pursue a career in the outdoors, by going back to college in my early 20’s and studying for a National Diploma in Outdoor Education. I then went on to do a further year as an apprentice instructor at an outdoor centre in North Wales called Plas-Y-Brenin. Through this I fell in love with Wales and have been living here ever since.
Since 2002 I have been a Freelance Instructor working all over the UK with many different, well respected companies. During this time I have worked with a large variety of clientele, ranging from all types of people and backgrounds including Youth Groups through to Managing Directors.
Although the majority of my experience is within the UK, I am always striving and reaching to better myself as both a climber and an instructor by making the best of any travelling that I do. This has led me to climb in parts of both Europe and Africa as well as all over the UK.
For 3 years I was heavily involved in the setting up of a commercial company as the Director of Safety Management. As I have over 10 years of involvement within youth work and 3 years on the commercial side, this prompted me to realise that the commercial world had taken me away from my passion and philosophy;
“I believe it is important that everyone as early as possible
should have the opportunity to explore adventurous activities.
Not only is this part of the Education Curriculum,
but also covers many key & life skill,
improving self confidence and therefore benefiting anyone.”
These Activities can be perceived as being expensive, which is why I have set myself up as an independent instructor/provider of these services and not a corporate company. This means I have lower overheads, thus enabling me to provide you with cost effective courses designed to meet your individual and specific needs.
